Gift Processing Specialist I

We raise, invest and distribute philanthropic support for OSU.
OSUF PRODUCT SCOPE:
We provide private support to enhance the University's ability to fulfill its land-grant mission.
DEPARTMENT PURPOSE:
The Gift Management department processes and manages the vast array of gifts that are received by the OSU Foundation, distributes the information to our many internal and external partners, generates donor receipts and pledge reminders, and provides a positive experience for donors.
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To process the vast array of gifts and payments received, manage recurring gift processes, assist with gift deposits, and audit processed gift data daily.
KEY AREAS OF FOCUS:
Deposit-Assist with the preparation and submission of remote bank deposits, including verification of data quality, proper logging of cash gifts, and communicating information essential to capture donor intent and authorization.
Gift Processing- Process gifts of all types, including outright gifts, pledge payments, stock gifts, and gifts-in-kind into Ascend CRM system.
Manage recurring ACH and credit card giving processes.
Reconcile payments received through merchant services accounts against imported gift data.
Perform basic gift adjustments that fall within the scope of your work.
Process donor biographical updates, including address, email, and phone changes.
Interact with donors and internal and external partners to verify gift information as needed.
Audit processed gift information and edit for accuracy daily.
Complete special projects as assigned.
JOB COMPETENCIES AND
Experience:
Education & Certifications-High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience- Previous experience with information management systems, researching and analyzing data.
Experience working for not-for-profit organizations preferred.
Ability to work as part of a close-knit team, manage multiple priorities and understand complex systems; ability to apply documented procedures to administrative tasks.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues, focus on tasks and deadlines, and provide feedback on issues related to gift entry processes.
Knowledge and experience with constituency relationship management (CRM) systems preferred.
Working knowledge of standard office systems and software (MS Office, databases, multifunction copier, etc.
).
Ability to learn in-house computer systems.

Must use a computer workstation and view a computer screen for extended periods of time.
Must talk in person or by phone (frequently and sometimes for extended periods) to people on campus and across the country.
Must constantly use visual acuity to check printed and designed materials of various types.
Must be able to navigate within the OSU Foundation.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
